What this is, and the rules it is written under.
A brief on technology news. Short, plain, and sourced: every factual claim in every post traces to a link at the foot of it.
The failure mode of an automated news blog is not dullness — it is confident wrongness. A summary that quietly misstates what happened, published daily under a real name, with nobody reading it first.
So the policy is blunt about it: nothing without a source, say only what the source says, no invented numbers, and mark the difference between fact, interpretation and speculation. A quiet day is three bullets, not a padded page. Corrections are made in place and dated, never silently deleted.
The full policy is in the repository as POLICY_NEWS.md.
A tityra is a bird — genus Tityra, family Tityridae, found from southern Mexico to central South America. Stout, about 20–25 cm, with an oversized bill, greyish-white body, black wings and tail, and a red eye-ring. It perches conspicuously in the open to feed, which is a decent thing for a news site to be named after.
The genus name comes from Tityri, the Ancient Greek word for satyrs — the companions of Pan — after the bird’s boisterous behaviour. Its call is described in the literature as an “unmusical nasal grunting”. Make of that what you will.
The footer shows how many times the site has been read today and in total, counted by GoatCounter. It sets no cookies, collects no personal data, and does no cross-site tracking; the numbers are public, which is why they can be printed here at all.
If your browser blocks it, the counter simply does not appear. Nothing else on the page depends on it.
